Award in CCTV Operations (Public Space Surveillance) Level 2 Award
The HABC Level 2 Award in CCTV Operations (Public Space Surveillance) (QCF) is a programme designed to meet the needs of learners who require a qualification which will enable them to apply for a Security Industry Authority (SIA) licence for operating CCTV for public space surveillance.
The qualification is based on the SIA specification for core competency (2009), which covers the necessary understanding and skills required by individuals who work to provide a more secure environment. To provide the learner with the basic knowledge and understanding to ensure the provision of a professional level of service as a CCTV operative; and to address the licensing requirements in the SIA regulated, operational environment.

Objectives:
Develop the learner's understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a CCTV operator and other CCTV staff
Provide the learner with knowledge and skills to operate CCTV equipment and carry out surveillance techniques
Develop the learner's knowledge of health and safety in the workplace including awareness of emergency procedures
Provide the learner with knowledge of legislation, codes of practice, operational procedures and guidelines applicable to the use of CCTV for public space surveillance
Enable the learner to implement effective methods of communication in a control room environment
Ensure that the learner understands how CCTV imagery may be presented as evidence
Candidates can complete the qualification in four days.
